Newtonian physics

Newtonian physics is a small branch of science that forgoes the Pythian method and instead choses to observe and analyse nature and the world in order to understand how the universe functions. It is named after the 17th Century philosopher and heretic, Isaac Newton. Ironically, Newton himself was more of an occult researcher than a true scientist, a fact that his followers tend to pointedly ignore.

The true function and processes of Newtonian science is unknown to us. It is completely and utterly alien in all aspects, and for many scholars utterly incomprehensible. Yet the researchers and engineers (what sorcerers are called in Newtonian physics) of the Union have achieved many wondrous if strange technologies through its practice. Several examples of these include:

*The iron-clad steamships of the Union navy.
*The revolving pistol and repeating rifle of the Union army.
*Gas-powered lamps and lanterns.
*The steam locomotive.
